An entrepreneur is a businessman who thinks of a new business that no one has done before or brings an old business to a new level. He plans how to start a new business, run it and how much money he will spend in any sector, how much he will profit from it. The main qualities of a successful entrepreneur are that he will be very honest and truthful. He can work long hours.

In business, one finds teaching of Tawakkul on the great God. That is why Allah has given superiority to business over other professions. However, the condition is that it must be in accordance with the Shari’ah and Sunnah. One cannot be oblivious to God by engaging in business. It has been narrated in the Holy Qur’an,

Let not your wealth nor your children divert you from the remembrance of Allah.

Sura: Munafiqun, verse: 9

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) emphasized the importance of being an entrepreneur. It has been said in the Holy Hadith, “Pay attention to business, because 90 percent of the sustenance is contained in it.” Apart from this, the dignity and importance of business are evident in many other hadiths. Most of the Companions, Tabi’is, Alems and Faqihs are pursuing this profession. Muslims have also gained notoriety through special improvements in this field.

Those who conduct business in a halal way will be given the highest honour on the Day of Resurrection. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said,

The resurrection of the faithful and trustworthy traders will be with the Prophet, Siddiq and the martyrs on the Day of Resurrection.

Tirmidhi, Hadith: 1029

The Prophet (peace be upon him) himself was an entrepreneur. Entering his youth, he took up business as a profession like other Quraysh youths. His handiwork in business under the supervision of his uncle Abu Taleb. He also used to come and go on business trips to Yemen and Syria as his uncle’s companion. It is understood from the narration of Ibn Sa’d that the Prophet (peace be upon him) was working in the market with his uncle Abu Taleb or other trading companions.

Through them, the Prophet (peace be upon him) gained the basic idea and experience of trade and commerce. Khadija (RA) has been in business for about 25 years before her visit to Syria with commercial products and has been successful. Proves his worth as a successful businessman. Even in Arabia, the fragrance of his honesty and truthfulness, fidelity and efficiency spread.

Islam came to India through entrepreneurs. The first people to preach Islam in this land were not Mujahideen. No Tablighi Jamaat has come here with the call of Islam. The first preachers of Islam in the region were a number of Sahabi and Tabii entrepreneurs who came to the region in the guise of traders.
